Biologist, psychologist, Master in Religious Studies from PUC-SP. After more than 30 years of study and clinical practice, she developed psychological theories that combine with biology. She also works in a psychology clinic, gives courses and lectures.

Synchronicity, a concept developed by Carl G. Jung, in one of his later works: “Synchronicity: A Principle of Acausal Connections”.

The theory of synchronicity tries to explain situations that do not have apparent causes and without connections, that happen simultaneously between unrelated individuals, or anomalous situations.

For example: scientific discoveries occurring at the same time in different countries, without the scientists having any contact. Or, when one person thinks about another and sees them pass on the street, or else, this person drops by. Several are the examples of synchronicity, and they can happen in a timeless way, or even, energetic acausal events (without a cause).

Synchronicity is not a coincidence event because it does not correspond to the laws of probability and presents an underlying, dynamic pattern, meaningful to the people involved. Synchronicity, then, can have a revealing effect on those involved in the phenomenon, leading the individual to reach a higher level of consciousness, reaching self-knowledge, as Jung called: individuation.

In the occurrence of integration of the individual as a whole, between the collective unconscious, the individual unconscious, the archetypes and the ego itself, that is, the individual reaches its fullness, between itself and the universe (or if you prefer, God).

Jung had contact with physicist Wolfgang Pauli, who together began to associate the disciplines, physics and psychology.

With his theory of synchronicity and affiliation with Pauli, Jung suggests that Man can change his reality, he can control the events of his life.

At the time Jung encountered these phenomena, there were no parameters of scientific research to prove these events.

However, later researchers have carried out research that there is a possibility of Man influencing events.

Among them, we can mention Massaru Emoto, who performs experiments with water molecules. He notes that the emotions that volunteers emit over water cause evident and complete molecular water changes depending on the emotion emitted.

The researches of Dean Radin and colleagues also prove that the human mind can interfere in matter and modify reality. He conducts experiments with individuals and with mass events. In both cases there is evidence that subjects are intertwined, and when large numbers of people focus on a single event, events can take a different turn.

Bill Tiller’s studies also walk along this road, he studies mainly consciousness and its effects on reality, as is already known.

More traditional scientists believe that consciousness is a by-product of the brain. However, according to the aforementioned researchers who have advanced further in the proposed theme, they affirm that the consciousness is something more comprehensive and manifests itself beyond the brain, that is, it is not a cerebral product. What it really is, and where it comes from, is still at the level of speculation.

However, these works prove that, whatever it is, it has an influence on immediate and future reality.

So the great question is: if the human mind can change matter and even transform reality, why don’t we have control over the conditions in which we live? Why is there suffering, can’t we improve our own World?

The answer: Humanity as a species is still at an early stage of development. To get an idea of the “youth” of mankind, Homo sapiens has existed for about 170 thousand years, dinosaurs lived 300 million years.

The present stage of mankind can perhaps be compared to the phase of adolescence, we cannot generalise this statement, nor consider it as an absolute truth. But when analysing adolescent behaviour, there are many points in common. The teenager has not yet reached its peak of psychological development. Adolescence is a phase of crises, in which one seeks acceptance of the age group to which one belongs, divides one’s world between positive and negative, rebels against the current authority (parents, teachers, and power figures), but seeks their acceptance, that is, one is dichotomous in almost everything that one does, for one tries to define one’s ego as something separated from the outside world, for that reason one undergoes so many crises of identity.

Humanity as a group has not taken possession of consciousness and its potentials. Thus, it does not yet have the psychological framework to alter its environment consciously for the better. It has not yet developed a political, environmental, religious, social model capable of supplying all.

In a way, Humanity suffers the same elementary issues as adolescents, it still separates the world between political structures, one religion from the other, social levels, etc. It can not discern that all belong to the same species, with the same needs inherent in all, as to love, to be loved, to be accepted, but it also cannot perceive the unity of the species, and the individuality of each one within that same unit.

As several sacred texts and Hermes Trimegistus say, “What is above is similar to the one below”, an affirmation that has the representation in the symbol of the “Star of David”, where two superimposed triangles appear.

Alchemists, in turn, claim: the Microcosm contains the Macrocosm, the two are one.

As Jung, Neumann, Mira and Lopez have stated, ontogenesis accompanies and reflects phylogenesis, that is, individual development reflects the development of the species and vice versa. That is to say, both the individual and humanity go through the same stages of development.

Some individuals have attained these potentials, and each reaching that level of consciousness “pulls” others to another level of consciousness, this happens because of the collective unconscious, in which all beings are connected.

Thus, if each one becomes aware of their potential and seizes their consciousness, they will benefit not only themselves but all humanity.

Taking this into account, it is a matter of time that everyone be on the same level of awareness.
